Intake Of Medicines Pre And Post Rhinoplasty: The Plastic Surgery Institute of California

Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure intended to alter the shape of the nose by adding or removing the bone or cartilage, grafting tissue from another part of the body or by implanting synthetic material to alter the shape of the nose.

The rhinoplasty procedure can be performed for both aesthetic as well as medical reasons. There are two basic methods for performing the rhinoplasty surgery, the open rhinoplasty surgery and the closed rhinoplasty surgery.

Both the plastic surgery procedures lead to beautiful, natural looking results.

To achieve the spectacular results that are possible through rhinoplasty, it is of utmost importance to discontinue the intake of medicines containing aspirin, ibuprofen at least two to three weeks prior to and post rhinoplasty surgery.

The intake of these medications adversely affects the blood clotting ability which can have a profound impact on the healing process.

At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, our board certified plastic surgeons address any questions or concerns about rhinoplasty surgery with care and understanding.
